Jay Rawls, Minister to Students

Jay was born and raised in Mobile, Al. He came to Christ as a teenager and grew in the Lord at his home church First Baptist Tillman’s Corner. It was during this time that Jay felt the Lord calling him into ministry. After high school he joined the Navy and spent the next five years serving his country.

While in the Navy, he married his high school sweet heart, Leticia. They had their first child while stationed in California, and today they have 3 boys and one girl. After serving his country he moved back to Mobile and started attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his BA in Christian Ministry.

Jay served as student minister at Fulton Road Baptist for 6 years before coming to First Baptist Springfield in August 2007. He loves students and is committed to helping them find the Lord, grow in their faith, and discover their purpose. Jay is also involved in reaching new families through the Contemporary Worship Service each Sunday morning.

“The All-You-Can-Eat Buffet of Life”

Amos 6:1-7

The Prophet Amos said: “Woe to those who are at ease in Zion.” Maybe we need to say: “Woe to those who are at ease in America. Woe to those who are at ease in our church.”
