Reverend Chris Jenkins

Chris Jenkins has been Minister of Music and Worship at First Baptist church since April of 1997. Chris comes from a family that was immersed in the life of the local church. Chris grew up near Raleigh, North Carolina and attended the University of Miami, East Carolina University, and received his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to Springfield, Chris has served churches in Florida and North Carolina. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Southeastern Seminary.

Chris has presented organ recitals in Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, and Virginia and was ordained to the Christian ministry in May of 1981. Chris and his wife, Connie, have two daughters, Erin and Lyssa. Erin is a graduate of West Virginia University and is married and living in North Carolina. Erin and her husband, Greg, have one daughter, Haley Elizabeth. Lyssa is a sophomore at Wingate University. Connie is a band director in the Falls Church City Schools and also serves First Baptist as organist and director of instrumental ministries. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing the organ and piano, fishing, reading, and home computing.
