Safe and Secure Plan

In order to provide for a safe and secure environment for our children and youth, FBC Springfield has adopted and put into practice a set of policies to provide reasonable care and protection for our children and youth from birth through 18.  Anyone wanting to work with this age group, in any program or activity of the church, must agree to this plan and provide written information along with an application to the church.

Grapple for 5th and 6th Graders

Sunday Nights at 7pm (during school year)

Moving from elementary school to middle school can be a challenging and even scary experience for both kids and parents!  So moving into the youth program in the mix of all that can cause some kids to pause.  They can get overwhelmed and even back away from church.  We are trying to build a bridge, so that the transition from the children’s ministry to the student ministry will be easier on them.

Grapple meets every Sunday night, during the school year, in the gym at 7:00pm with games such as: volley ball, scooter hockey, soccer, tag or dodge ball.  After game time and snacks, there is a small group session in Student Center Classroom #3.  The students will grapple with their own faith, relationships and the choices they make.  They are encouraged to invite their friends!

Your child will be interacting with adult leaders and SELECT students from the student ministry, giving us a chance to get to know each other so that it’s not all brand new when they make the transition.  The main interaction between them and older students will be during the small group time.  One older student will be selected to help teach their small group under the leadership of an adult.

“What to Remember and What to Forget”

Jim Weaver

Isaiah 43:1-25

The Bible draws our attention to a problem we can have with our memories - our spiritual memories. Sometimes we can remember what we need to forget, and sometimes we can forget what we need to remember.

“You Mean Follow Jesus Today?”

Hammond Coates

Mark 8:27-38

How do we follow Jesus today?  Is our age so different that we can't really relate to Him?  Following Jesus has always been difficult if we do it as He calls us to do it.
